Liturgical events over lent:
- Digital Ash Wednesday service
- Pupil assemblies weekly with Lenten focus
- Friday Staff Prayer
- Digital Stations of the Cross
- Weekly reflections sent out to pupils
- Digital mass on Maundy Thursday
- Sacrament of Reconciliation TBC
Covid rules permitting, there will be some additional prayer groups/sessions (Stations and Morning Prayer etc.), can also be done remotely
Charity events over lent are:
- St Patricks day – 17th March – Wear it Green non-uniform day. Everyone donates an item of food or toiletries for our Food bank appeal.
- Loose Change Day – Monday 22nd March. Everyone donates any loose change. All donations are welcome.
- Walk For Water – Wednesday 31st March. (Year 7 Sponsored walk around the site.)
- Staff Walk for Water – 10,000 steps for the 40 days of Lent. Staff who want to join in are walking 10,000 steps each day of Lent to raise money for CAFOD
HOLY SOULS CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
During the season of Lent pupils will
- Ash Wednesday Masses/links sent on Class Dojo
- Missio Lenten Calendar sent home electronically and event saved daily on Class Dojo to remind children to check
- Fundraising funds/collection for nominated charities
- Lenten promises
- Good Shepherd boxes
- Weekly School Mass on Tuesdays
- Father’s Friday Lenten Message on Class Dojo
- Child Led Collective Worship
- Participate in Teacher Led Collective Worship based upon our Virtues for each half term e.g Spring 2 Attentive and Discerning
- First Confession for Year 3, Confession for Year 4 (spiritually ready to make their First Holy Communion after Easter)
- Penitential Service for Years 5 and 6
- Adoration and meditation at Church for KS2
- Lenten Homework Challenge (8.3.21-1.4.21)
- Easter Garden Challenge
- Fundraising Shrove Tuesday Pancake Flipping Challenge shared on Class Dojo and Twitter
During the season of Lent staff will
- Have access to weekly school mass
- Have access to engage daily with the Walk with Me materials
- Have access to the Pilgrim Path materials
- Have access to the Missio Collective Worship resources
- Dedicated Staff Weekly Prayer led by Chaplain
- Fundraising- HM 10,000 steps each day in March. Staff supporting her and walking daily.
- Fundraising Shrove Tuesday Pancake Flipping Challenge shared on Class Dojo and Twitter
St Teresa of Calcutta MAC
- Pupil Competition to create a motto that encompasses what the St Teresa of Calcutta MAC represents and stands for. Easter egg prizes for all participants. Additional prizes for selected winners in school. Winners from each school to go through to final stages of the competition where an overall winner is decided. Headteacher Board and Directors to be judges at various points in the process!
- MAC wide raffle to raise money for CAFOD with winners receiving either a signed Aston Villa, Wolves or West Bromwich Albion shirt!
