The Board of Directors, in partnership with the Archdiocese of Birmingham and the Local Governing Body are seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with special educational needs. This is a fixed-term role linked to the child’s time at our school.  The successful candidate will join a caring and committed team and will contribute to the life of our Catholic school community, working in partnership with staff, parents, and governors to provide the very best for our pupils.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be supportive of the Catholic ethos of our school.
  • Provide academic and social support for a child with SEND on a 1:1 basis, helping them to access learning and thrive in school life.
  • Have an understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how to adapt it to meet individual needs.
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in a 1:1 setting.
  • Be able to use their own initiative to respond to the child’s needs and changing circumstances.
  • Be committed to raising the attainment, confidence, and independence of the child they support.
  • Work in close partnership with the child’s parent(s)/carer(s), providing daily feedback on progress, successes, and areas for development.
  • Be creative and devoted to providing personalised, engaging learning experiences for the child.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, working effectively as part of a team with colleagues, parents, governors, and external professionals.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to their own learning and professional development in relation to SEND and 1:1 support.
